General Species Description: Reproduction Comments: Clutch of one egg is laid mainly March-June in Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands. Incubation averaged 41 days (40-43) in Puerto Rico. Young fledged at about 10 weeks in Puerto Rico (Schaffner 1991). Ecology Comments: In Puerto Rico, nesting failures primarily were due to conspecific agonistic encounters at one site and predation by black rats at another site, where predation by land crabs was of lesser importance (Schaffner 1991).
